Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is located on the South part of the Costa Brava. It is a fairly laidback area, perfect for family vacations during summer time. The city has a Roman origin and houses many ruins of old walls inside the walled town. Three towers have been preserved out of the five historic landmarks: the Homage Tower, the Entrance Tower and the Jonas Tower. The medieval neighborhood Vila Vella is a must-visit because of its enchanting spell that transports visitors back to the old times.

Walking along these narrow streets of Tossa de Mar is a treat. Tourists from all over the world flock to this unique town to enjoy a day of visual pleasure. The climate in this area is typical of Mediterranean areas, with its four differentiated seasons—a hot summer, a rainy fall, a cold winter and a sunny spring. The town's traditional sources of income revolved around their marine resources. Fishing, trade and the cork industries were primary sources of income for the locals. Until recently, the tourist industry in Tossa seemingly overrides that of fishing. Cheap accommodation is available, as well as luxury hotels for those not scrimping the budget.

For the gastronomist, Tossa offers its signature drink, sangria—a mix of wine, lemonade, sugar and Mediterranean fruits. The language barrier is not a worry in this tourist abode, hotel receptionists and most locals are capable of understanding English. Visiting Tossa de Mar is guaranteed to be an enriching and fruitful experience
