Sant Feliu de Guixols
The city of Sant Feliu de Guixols is situated in the centre of the Costa Brava. It has a population of 16,000, which is mainly active in the cork, fishing and boat-building industries. Numerous resort facilities can be found in Sant Feliu, compared to other resort towns. Shops, cafés and bars dot the seafront and the town centre. Spring almost never leaves the area because the climate is mild throughout the year.
Sant Feliu de Guíxols is picturesque, surrounded by natural landscapes and pristine beaches, some of which are only accessible by boat. Green cliffs and rocky mountains give justice to the coast’s name—Costa Brava—which means wild coast. Aside from its outstanding marine life, the town also boasts historical monuments such as the Romanesque church, monasteries and museums.
Good Mediterranean cuisine is also widely available in the city’s many restaurants. Fish dishes are very popular, such as the Suquet de Peix, Suquet D'anxoves, sea urchins and the most popular Sant Feliu dish—the blue fish. A large sea-promenade enclosed by strong pine trees and palms is also worth a visit. Peace and hospitality are signatures of this city, proving that it is a very relaxing destination.
All year round, Sant Feliu has an intense commercial activity. A widening tourist community has prompted many leisure and cultural activities, in pursuit of maintaining the town's deeply-rooted traditions.
