Granada Airport

Granada Airport can be found in the plains of the River Genil (Vega del Genil) in the province of Andalucia. Situated 16 kilometers west of the province, regular national flights to Barcelona, Madrid, and to London Stansted are scheduled daily. Located near Santa Fé, access to this airport is easy and is south of the A92 Seville motorway. The history of Granada Airport dates back to the year 1911 when the first recorded flight in Santa Fé happened to celebrate Corpus Chisti. Eleven years after, land was donated by the town hall for the construction of a permanent facility. Named Aeródromo Dávila with scheduled service to Seville, it was opened in 1925.

Opened in 1972, the terminal building of Granada Airport boasts world-class facilities. The building can cater for up to 550 departures and 600 arrivals per hour. The airport has a 2,900 m long and 45 m wide single runway called the 09-27. Granada Airport also has three boarding gates, VIP room , and two arrivals areas. It also has an apron with 25 stands. Out of these stands, eleven are used for commercial planes only. A bar-restaurant and a shop can also be found within the terminal building for the convenience of those waiting for their flights.

By 2004, Granada Airport had already handled almost 600,000 passengers. Airport services include daily departures of buses passing La Caleta, Avda. de la Constitución, Gran Vía, and Palacio de Congresos to the many major cities in the province. Aside from the scheduled buses, taxis from different car rental companies are also available with prices ranging from 17 EUR for service to the city, 25 EUR to Alhambra, and 63 EUR to the Sierra Nevada.
